Jay, 25, works in retail. Tracie, 24, is a graduate student. They live in Alexandria.

The Main Event: They wished upon a star and kept on believing, and now they’re getting married at Walt Disney World on Jan. 6.

How They Met: In middle school. They were high school sweethearts.

First Date: They went with a group to see “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” then ditched the friends for dinner. Then three of the guys walked in with a video camera and filmed the whole thing. “Too bad we have no clue where that tape is now,” Jay says, “because it’s one of our best stories.”

First Kiss: On the bus ride home from a band competition. She was aiming for his cheek but got his lips — his first kiss ever. “We began making out … next thing I know, his friends are shouting, ‘Go Jay!’ on the bus. Oh, man.”

How He Proposed: At her surprise 22nd birthday party. “I was suspicious when leaving the house because my mom was tearing up and wouldn’t say what was wrong.”

Their Song: Jason Mraz’s “Lucky.” “As the song says, I am truly lucky I’m in love with my best friend,” Jay says.
