A new line of iPhone cases from Condé Nast stars iconic images from Vogue, the New Yorker and other pubs ($40 each, Condenaststore.com). Our faves? Helen Jameson Hall’s watercolor illustration of a frolicking woman from a 1936 Mademoiselle cover and a black-and-white photo of a sultry couple whispering sweet nothings (and smoking!) from a 1966 GQ issue.
Cali-cool meets the DMV at Logan Circle’s new Showroom (1412 14th St. NW; 202-745-0118). The airy home collective traffics in furniture (such as Shine by SHO’s tufted sofa, shown, $5,875), accessories (preppy patterned pillows, shown, $150-$165) and contemporary art, thanks to the triple threat behind it all: interior designer Lori Graham, vintage hound Mike Johnson and art curator Lauren Gentile.
BB creams multitask as SPF, makeup and all-around skin improvers. Mineral-mad cosmetic queen Jane Iredale just entered the market with Smooth Affair ($48, Shop.janeiredale.com), a potion that’s got a bit more coverage than many we’ve tried. (Read: It camouflaged our zit!) Its combo of grapefruit and algae extracts also shrunk said blemish — even better.
If you don’t own a bowl, Betty Crocker’s Shake-n-Pour brownies ($3.50, grocery stores) are the most convenient dessert ever. Just add water to the bottle of dry mix, shake the vessel, then pour the resulting mixture into a pan and bake. Yes, oven temperatures do vary, so inexperienced cooks should realize that if this results in chocolate soup, they just need to bake their batch a bit longer.
