Kristen, I just want to thank you for being honest about the privilege you have. As a black woman, I know too well the tension between black and white women. Releasing it definitely takes more than a movie or having friends of the “other” race. With more candor like yours, we can overcome a dreadful relic.

Your guessing Ole Miss was not a hot-bed of racial consciousness-raising in the 1960s? Ever hear of James Meredith? How JFK sent the Army to Ole Miss to stop the riots on campus after integration? Sad that one would have to guess, given that Ole Miss at the center of one of the important moments in the Civil Rights Movement. Read the “The Band Played Dixie” by Nadine Cohodas, a local DC writer, to find out just how messed up things were at Ole Miss in the 60s, 70s and 80s (some argue they are still pretty backwards).

I was in your store in Northville and I saw and just fell in love with those glass sculptures placed around your store. I made 3 of them after searching through thrift stores for use pieces. I’m having trouble finding colored glass pieces. Do you have any suggestions on where to find more without spending a fortune? P.S. Your store is great!!!

I have to agree with fact that wall paper is really hitting the scene again. I think the damask and florals are the most popular but tons of vintage styles are very common now a days. We have been using wall decals in a repeated pattern to kind of replicate the wall paper look… I must say it looks pretty good. In my experience it is way easier than applying wall paper… I was never really good at applying wall paper. :) Anyway great topic and keep up the great content!

Once again, Newsweek proves that it is not capable of providing unbiased and fair coverage to all candidates of a Presidential election. What weak, biased and child-like antics by what should be a professional news organization! Your posting that picture on the cover is a slam against all women! If you had posted such a crazed and unflattering photo of Barack Obama nearly everyone would be claiming racism, I see this photo as nothing less than gender-bias at it’s finest. Shame on you Newsweek!
