This Weekend, D.C. Cares

THE METROPOLITAN AREA'S leading coordinator of volunteerism and corporate philanthropy, Greater D.C. Cares, is holding its annual fundraiser, Servathon 2007, this weekend all across the city.

The event, to be held on Friday and Saturday, brings together thousands of people to work with nonprofit organizations to help complete projects throughout the area.

Among the projects planned for Servathon 2007: beautifying the grounds between the World War II and Korean War Memorials on the National Mall, landscaping along the C&O Canal and cleaning and collecting debris along the Anacostia River shoreline.

Although registration is now closed to groups for Friday's Sponsors' Day of Service, individuals can still sign up and contribute on Saturday, which is open to all.

Afterwards, Dupont Circle's Buffalo Billiards will be hosting a "Come As You Are" party, for individuals, sponsors and teams from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
