Capital Pride, a Rally and Race to Close Streets

AFTER TODAY'S TOASTY TEMPERATURES, this weekend's climate is expected to be a bit cooler, with temps in the 80s and low humidity. And that'll be a welcome relief to the thousands expected to turn out for various local rallies, parades and road races.

Photo by Nikki Kahn/The Washington Post» CAPITAL PRIDE PARADE AND FESTIVAL: Saturday at 6:30 p.m., the Capital Pride Parade is set to leave from P and 22nd streets NW and travel around Dupont Circle, up New Hampshire Avenue, east on R Street, south on 17th Street, east on P Street to 14th Street, where the gay pride festivities will wrap up near Thomas Circle. Be aware that the staging area at the start of the parade route will include a number of streets near P and 22nd streets. Streets will be closed to traffic as the parade makes its way from start to finish. To avoid getting stuck, use the Connecticut Avenue underpass or Rock Creek Parkway.

Additionally, the Capital Pride Street Festival will set up shop within view of the Capitol Saturday at 9 p.m. and will shut Pennsylvania Avenue between 3rd and 7th streets NW through 10 p.m. Sunday. Other streets near the festival will be closed to traffic.
