People: 'Arcade Fire Stole My Basketball!'

Photo by Carol Guzy/The Washington PostNEXT BLOG POST TO BE TITLED: 'NANNY NANNY BOO BOO.' Finally! A hard-hitting celebrity news story that doesn't involve a Paris/Lindsay/Britney name drop. A blogger calling himself Chris H. says he recently ran into Arcade Fire lead singer Win Butler at a gym at the University of California at Berkeley and got into a tiff about who had the right to play on the basketball court, which led to a most shocking turn of events.

As recounted on the new blog Arcade Fire Stole My Basketball, Chris states:

After I finished playing I realized my basketball was missing. I remembered last seeing it on the court where Mr. Butler was shooting around with a few other guys.

I went downstairs to the front desk to ask if anyone had turned in a ball. I described my ball to the young woman working the desk. I told her that I had drawn stars on the ball so nobody would take it by mistake.

She said: 'The lead singer of Arcade Fire took your basketball.'"

Gasp! But does it end here? No, no, the plot thickens with the creation of, oh yes, Arcade Fire Didn't Steal Dude's Basketball, written by Butler's brother and bandmate Will, which rebutts:
"I heard that the guy who said that the Arcade Fire stole his basketball — his basketball didn't actually get stolen by the Arcade Fire. He just started his blog to raise awareness of himself because he's trying to raise money to travel to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing."
Sit back and enjoy, kids, this is going to be fun to watch.
