People: Diaz, Brown Bag Bad Attention

Photo by Chad Buchanan/Getty ImagesTRENDY PURSES = TROUBLE? Well if you're Cameron Diaz, at right, or Foxy Brown it does. On a recent trip to Peru, Diaz wore a bag with a red star and Chinese characters that read, "Serve the people." The quote by Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong stirred Peruvian memories of the Maoist Shining Path insurgency which left almost 70,000 dead in the '80s and early '90s. "I did not realize the potentially hurtful nature of the slogan printed on it," apologized Diaz. For Brown, on the other hand, it was the status of her Louis Vuitton bag that made her a target of a Brooklyn mugging over the weekend, although the star is claiming that the incident never happened. "RANDY QUAID JUST MEASURED MY UTERUS. Should I be worried? OK — maybe not Randy Quaid, but if Randy Quaid had a twin brother who was an OB-GYN... that'd be him. He also yelled at me." Whoa. Local blogger NG recounts an interesting doctor's appointment. [Alice's Adventures Underground]

GOOD QUESTION: With Paris getting out tomorrow, and Fergie admitting that she's held a conversation with a hamper for hours, inevitably one wonders: "Is there such a thing as career suicide anymore?" [People; Fametastic; E Online]
