Styles: Pretty in Green

Photo by Marge Ely/ExpressCAN YOU WEAR COOL CLOTHES that fight global warming? The growth spurt in eco-friendly fashion says, "Heck, yeah."

Barneys and H&M now stock organic cotton clothes, Urban Outfitters hawks recycled frocks, and a bumper crop of designers and boutiques traffic in fair-trade, organic and repurposed chic.

"It's getting easier to dress green head to toe," says Jenny Hwa, who uses earth-sparing textiles in her Loyale line.

Want to decrease your carbon footprint and up your fashion cred? Stick to eco fabrics (modal, bamboo), try stores like thegreenloop.com and cocosshoppe.com, and consider recycled or vintage styles. But forget burlap and tie-dye — green now means never having to say, "I got this at Woodstock."

Here, Jessie wears a natural silk Talla top ($187, cocosshoppe.com) and Toby Pomeroy eco-silver hoops. ($215, tobypomeroy.com).
