Feds Cast Doubt on Tysons Rail; Saga Drags On

Courtesy Dulles Corridor Metrorail ProjectTHE QUEST to extend Metrorail to serve Tysons Corner and eventually Dulles Airport might be best described as a massive ping-pong game, except instead of two players, the table has room for five or six teams. And one of the dominant players, the Federal Transit Administration, has issued a report saying that the estimated cost to build the rail line has increased so much that it may not meet federal funding guidelines.

Whose court is the ball in right now?

As The Post's Bill Turque reported on Saturday:

The report will almost certainly send the state, Dulles Transit Partners and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the agency that would oversee construction, back to the drawing board in an attempt to prune costs.
