Pyramid-Capped Tower to Rise in Rosslyn

WE'VE TOLD YOU ABOUT the new skyscraper that's set to become a part of Rosslyn's growing skyline next year. Now, courtesy of The Post and Interface Multimedia, we can show you what it's expected to look like: 30 stories of glass facade with a distinctive pyramid on top.

The structure, scheduled to rise at 1812 N. Moore Street, originally would have been Rosslyn's tallest building. But developers cut its proposed 414-foot height to 370 feet to win approval from the Federal Aviation Administration, which reviews the impact buildings in Rosslyn could have on aircraft taking off and landing at Reagan National Airport.

But perhaps more striking than its size and shape is the way the new building will spend its power. It's designed to have more energy-efficient features than any office building in Virginia, The Post's Kristin Downey reports.

Among its attributes, which earned it Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program: 35 percent of its energy will come from renewable sources, 75 percent of its regularly occupied spaces will have abundant natural light and it will boast a 42 percent more efficient plumbing system and water fixtures.

Construction will begin this summer and is expected to take 18 months, Downey reports.
