Dorking Out for Satan: Brian Posehn
BRAIN POSEHN built his act by being himself. He calls upon the two most prominent and contradictory things that make the comic tick: He's a geek, and he's a metalhead.
For this headbanger, life couldn't be better. He has a new comedy CD out, "Nerd Rage," is filming for "The Sarah Silverman Show" and is getting to hang with bands a younger Posehn grew up idolizing.
"I recently hung out with the guys in [Iron] Maiden, and it was completely surreal," the comedian said. "I just kept thinking about the 15-year-old me and how he would lose his mind."
Posehn brings his nerd rage to the Arlington Cinema 'n' Drafthouse this weekend. He's also preparing to release a new stand-up disc and to try his hand at music.
"I'm getting ready to go into the studio with Scott Ian [of Anthrax]. We're going to work on some stuff together," said Posehn.
Where nerds and metal meet, there are comic books. Posehn teamed up with Gerry Dugan to write "The Last Christmas," the story of Santa's annual trip around the Earth after the apocalypse that leaves our planet ridden with zombies. Posehn's new work was announced to comic book nation last week at the San Diego Comic-Con. The only details Posehn revealed to us: "It's a new take on a superhero. I don't think anyone has ever done this before."
