Solo Straits: Mark Knopfler

knopfler%20top%20stop.jpg IF YOU EVER felt as passionately about "Sultans of Swing" (here with Eric Clapton) as I did, then you'll agree that former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler's voice is one of the sweetest sounding around. It's very low and on the coarser side of things, but it hits the spot every time. He can even "sing a love song, like the way it's meant to be" (a la "Romeo and Juliet.")

He's no longer in (up?) Dire Straits ... he's out there alone, making a fine solo career for himself. Watch this clip of him and an impressively large orchestra and then get yourself to Wolf Trap to get a first-hand listen.
