Jamaican Independence Day in D.C.

AFTER WRITING MY article on Errol Lee and Bare Essentials, I went and checked my photo archives to see if I had any shots of the band from the previous Jamaican Independence Day celebrations in D.C.

Turns out I have a few, but the more interesting photos turned out to be the crowd pix I took in 2005 while Bare Essentials played: The audience is filled with pure dancing joy, confirming what I said in the article about the band being massive crowd pleasers and booty shakers. (It's so good to be right once in a while, especially after all the blows to the head I took as a professional wrestler in the 1950s. Doooiiiii.)

I also found a couple of shots from 2007 when Bare Essentials backed singer Bob Andy — officially my then 2-month-old-baby boy's first concert. Awww, memories.
