Dan Gheesling, a high school teacher from Dearborn, Mich., won the CBS reality show's $500,000 prize Tuesday after outlasting 12 other contestants inside a makeshift house on a Studio City soundstage. The jury unanimously voted him the winner.

Authorities say they have arrested actor Ryan O'Neal and his son on suspicion of having drugs in their Malibu home. Authorities went to O'Neal's home Wednesday morning for a routine check on his son Redmond, who was given three years probation after pleading guilty to drug possession charges in June. Both men remain in custody on $10,000 bail.

"Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels, "The Carrie Diaries," that "takes readers back to Carrie Bradshaw's formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie's friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer," HarperCollins announced Wednesday. The first book is due in 2010. Bushnell's fifth book, "One Fifth Avenue," comes out this month.
