Hilary Swank is recovering after a hospital procedure to remove a small, benign growth, a representative for the Oscar-winning actress said Thursday. "She was experiencing some discomfort and went to see her doctor, who prescribed an immediate course of action that included a brief hospitalization" to eliminate the growth, said Swank's manager, Jason Weinberg.

Thomas Jane has pleaded no contest to drunken driving after he was clocked going 120 mph in a Maserati. Jane wasn't in the Shafter, Calif., courtroom but made the plea through his lawyer. The actor was fined $1,700.

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California's ballot initiative that would overturn the state Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage. "Because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire," Pitt said Wednesday.

Oprah Winfrey has taped an episode of the Emmy Award-winning comedy "30 Rock" at the Silvercup Studios in Queens, NY. While it is unknown whether the queen of all media will play herself, or some other part, NBC did confirm the show will air Nov. 6. The billionaire talk show host's appearance is being billed as a one-time-only occurrence.

LIVE EARTH CONCERT WILL HEAD TO INDIA
Last year's Live Earth concert spanned four continents, and 150 acts performed over a 24-hour period. But organizers Al Gore and Kevin Wall decided this year to stage only one event in India, in the hopes of bringing their message to the developing world. Slated to perform are Jon Bon Jovi and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. "We need to open doors for local environmental organizations to create consciousness here," said Wall of India.
