Walters Looks to Save D.C. Some Money

"[IT WAS] NICE of her to not waste the taxpayers' money on a drawn-out trial if she's actually guilty, but ... she won't get the book thrown at her."
Blog.georgetownvoice.com reacts to news that Harriette Walters, who allegedly masterminded the scheme that bilked D.C. out of $48M in tax dollars, will plead guilty.
» "'STOP THROWING YOUR money away,' they shout. 'Look at these 3-month-old strawberries!' 'I bought this cheddar during the Clinton administration!'"
Nutgraf.net gets a kick out of infomercials, adding, "The worse the economy gets, the more stridently these ads pitch food storage systems to save you money."
» "IF YOU'RE GOING to push for unlimited freedom from regulation, then you have to take the bitter medicine when your plans go awry, instead of begging for a taxpayer bailout."
Centerblue.org describes what it refers to as a "full-on meltdown" for Wall Street, adding, "Conversely, if you want a taxpayer bailout, [you] have to submit your business ... to reasonable government regulations."
» "JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE if you hate it so much. How do you justify glee when it means the latest disadvantage for a part of D.C. already overlooked and under-served?"
Districtschmistrict.wordpress.com is sad to hear about the pending closure of the Union Station 9 movie theater complex, which some people surmise was fueled by complaints about its often vocal attendees.
