Whole World Music: Balkan Beatbox

GYPSY PUNK OUTFIT Balkan Beatbox has redefined world music. As in, they may or may not have sampled every genre of music on the entire planet to create their hot, catchy electronic sound.

Their influences include everyone from Manu Chao to Charlie Parker. As for the music, there's klezmer, there are hints of several Balkan traditions, there's Middle Eastern, there's dancehall, there's hip-hop — you get my point.

Take a listen here — the only way to understand it in this case is to experience it for yourself. It is certainly danceable stuff — just right for a lively Wednesday night. Catch them at the Black Cat along with Joro Boro.
