A New Shade Of Adventure: 'Purple Crayon'
IT'S HALLOWEEN WEEKEND, meaning your little goblin is either going through costume anxiety or buzzing from a sugar rush. Either way, overholiday-ed kids could use a little "Harold and the Purple Crayon." Where else will you find a boy armed with a singing crayon out to conquer the world one drawing at a time? Based on author Crokett Johnson's storybook, Adam Robert's musical adaptation being staged by Adventure Theatre is sure to stretch the imagination. And with, like, 15 costume changes — from one purple getup to the next, of course — it sure beats a street full of pirates, Hannah Montana and white sheets with eyeholes.
» Adventure Theatre, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo; through Nov. 4, $15 general admission, $12 for ages 12 & under; 301-634-2270.
