CLARENDON IS HARDLY the first place you'd expect to find cutting-edge clothes, but Mauro Farinelli aims to make Rag & Bone as popular there as Barnes & Noble.

The Denim Bar cofounder has just opened his new shop, Farinelli's (2839 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington; 703-647-9856), full of hip, upscale men's and women's finds like Fred Perry polo shirts ($86). This is only the start: More brands arrive every week, and a Reston outpost is in the works.
