Good Chemistry: 'A Beautiful View'

WHILE SOME PLAYS capture an hour in their characters' day, "A Beautiful View" tackles 30 years in the lives of Lane (Jennifer Mendenhall) and Max (Kathleen Coons).

First the two women are lovers, then they are separated, then they see other people, then one of them gets married, then they are friends, then they are lovers again, etc. It's not this length of time or this long list of incidents that makes the play worth seeing, however — it's the characters.

Writer Daniel Maclvor has constructed roles that are capably acted by these two vets of the stage, and their chemistry brings meaning to an otherwise random seeming string of events.
