Iraq's Effects: Peter Galbraith
PETER GALBRAITH, former U.S. ambassador (and son of John Kenneth Galbraith, the famous economist who is dead and thus cannot get us out of this OTHER giant mess we're in), told us that we were in a big mess in his last book, "The End of Iraq." He continues his streak of knowing exactly what's wrong with his latest, "Unintended Consequences: How War In Iraq Strengthened America's Enemies."
His message: our foreign policy has been destructive and terrible and we've taken a bad situation and made it infinitely worse. But don't shoot the messenger. In fact, you should probably go see him speak at Politics and Prose — after all, he knows the problem, so maybe he has some idea of how to fix it too.
