Rebecca Romijn and her husband, Jerry O'Connell, are new parents -- times two. A publicist for the "Ugly Betty" actress says twin daughters Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip were born Dec. 28. They are the couple's first children. Publicist Lewis Kay said Monday that "mother, father and both girls are all home and doing well." Romijn, 36, and O'Connell, 34, were married in 2007.

"Dancing With the Stars" duo Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are engaged, according to People magazine. The couple, who have been dating for six months, rang in the new year at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas with an engagement ring. Smirnoff, 30, is a five-time U.S. national ballroom champ. She has previously been linked romantically to entertainer Mario Lopez. They split in early 2008.

Tom Cruise credits Scientology teachings with helping him overcome dyslexia, XL Semanal reports. The Spanish magazine quotes Cruise as saying he was illiterate when he graduated from high school but later learned to read perfectly through Scientology technology.

NICKNAME UNNECESSARY FOR SERIAL MONOGAMIST
Gary Oldman has married for the fourth time. The British character actor, 50, wed jazz singer Alexandra Edenborough, 31, in a secret ceremony in Santa Barbara, Calif. Oldman has enjoyed a resurgence as a film star of late: He portrays Commissioner James Gordon in the popular "Batman" franchise and has won younger fans (and earned major bank) as the wizard Sirius Black in the "Harry Potter" series. Oldman was married briefly to actress Uma Thurman.
