Lady Day: 'Lady Sings the Blues'
TUESDAY: If you're in a lot of emotional pain lately — post-Valentine's Day depression, seasonal affective disorder, economic slump, whatever — take a minute for a woman who lived through her fair share of misery and who sang it all out: Billie Holiday.
In honor of Black History Month, the Smithsonian will be screening "Lady Sings the Blues," the epic biopic starring Diana Ross as Lady Day. Go for the jazz, stay for the melodrama.
» McEvoy Auditorium, National Portrait Gallery, 8th and F streets NW; Tue., Feb. 17, 7 p.m., free; 202-633-8520. (Gallery Place)
