Idol Chatter: Kris & Tell in Arkansas

IF I HAD TO USE ONE word to describe KLRT-TV, Fox16's coverage of "Idol" finalist Kris Allen's homecoming, it would be this one: breathless.

Note the headline in the screen grab at right referring to Kris' appearance in Conway, Arkansas, where he lives, as "TV history." And this little detail: "Beginning at 8am Friday we'll have live updates and exclusive interviews at the top of every hour on FOX16 and FOX16.com."

If President Obama came to Conway, there wouldn't be this much attention. Heck, if President Lincoln suddenly appeared in downtown Conway hale, hearty and wondering who stole his stovepipe hat, that probably still wouldn't snag this kind of coverage.

Among Kris' events on Friday: Many, many TV appearances, a parade and a concert.

This might even be bigger than Conway's annual Toad Suck Daze festival, though nowhere near as creatively named.
