"Withdrawal — it's the worst thing," Paula Abdul tells Ladies' Home Journal. Abdul admits to the magazine that she checked into a rehab facility in Carlsbad, Calif., at Thanksgiving for addiction to prescription painkillers. "At my very core, I did not like existing the way I had been." The singer says she now feels better, thanks to surgery, yoga and spiritual work

Rihanna is back on the red carpet. The singer arrived Monday at the annual Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum gala in New York. It was her first such appearance since her boyfriend allegedly beat her in February. She did not speak with the press.

Elizabeth Edwards tells talk show host Oprah Winfrey that it's a "complicated question" whether she still is in love with her husband, John Edwards, after his admitted affair. "Neither one of us is out the door, so I guess it's day by day, but maybe it's month by month," Edwards says. Winfrey visited the Edwards family at the Chapel Hill, N.C., home where the couple live with their children. She interviewed Edwards about her relationship with her husband, his affair and her battle with terminal cancer. The interview will appear on Winfrey's show and there will be a companion piece in the June issue of "O" magazine.

FAWCETT SPECIAL TO AIR
NBC News next week will air a two-hour special on Farrah Fawcett's battle with cancer. Fawcett says that she would have liked to have kept her cancer private, but realized others might benefit from her experiences. NBC paid a licensing fee for the footage, but it isn't saying how much.
