People: Chace Crawford Named People's Hottest Bachelor of the Summer

Chace Crawford, who plays Nate Archibald on "Gossip Girl," is People magazine's hottest bachelor of the summer. Crawford is slated to star in a remake of the 1984 film "Footloose," which made Kevin Bacon a heartthrob. The 23-year-old actor says he's "not in any rush" to get into a relationship because he has the rest of his life to share with someone.

CRITICS HAIL PENN'S NON-ACTING AS GENIUS
Sean Penn will not be one of "The Three Stooges" or join "Cartel." A spokeswoman for Penn said he is dropping out of the films. She said if the start dates were to be postponed, Penn would stay involved. Other media outlets have reported that he's taking a break to spend time with his family.

MIA FARROW'S BROTHER DIES IN APPARENT SUICIDE
Vermont State Police and a spokeswoman for Mia Farrow say the actress' brother killed himself at his art gallery. Farrow's manager says Patrick Farrow was a beloved brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather.

POPULARITY
SUPREME COURT WOULD HAVE LIKED AN AUTOGRAPH, THOUGH
The California Supreme Court has refused to intervene or delay Chris Brown's preliminary hearing. Court records show a petition filed by Brown's attorney to delay the crucial hearing was denied on Wednesday. Lawyer Mark Geragos had asked the state's high court last week to intervene in the singer's felony assault case. An appeals court had already rejected a similar request. Brown is due in court on Monday for a preliminary hearing, after which a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for his case to go to trial.

RIHANNA RENTING IN A BUYER'S MARKET
A man claims in a lawsuit that Rihanna isn't being a good neighbor. Christian Moeller on Tuesday sued the 21-year-old pop singer and Stephen Yacobian, who owns the house she rents in Los Angeles. Moeller's lawsuit claims cars routinely park or wait on his property, including cars Rihanna uses.

'I'M NOT IMPETUOUSLY EMBARKING ON MY THIRD MARRIAGE Y'ALL - TODAY'
Despite rumors — started by a Star magazine story — a source tells People.com that Britney Spears is not engaged to agent boyfriend Jason Trawick. "There's no truth to it at all. Britney is not engaged," the source said. According to yet another anonymous source talking to People.com, "They're very sweet together. ... He makes Britney really happy, and he's great with the boys."
