Bargain Hunting: Studio Theatre Garage Sale

Pay no attention to the actors. You're here for the table. SATURDAY: In any recession, yard sales quickly become a chic (or at least necessary) shopping outlet for most of us. Luckily, D.C. is full of theaters, whose annual sales can snag you stage-worthy furniture, clothes and props with which to decorate your apartment.

The Studio Theatre's annual garage sale this Saturday, held at the corner of 14th and P streets, should be a huge attraction for bargain hunters and collectors alike.

This is not the kind of yard sale where you pick up a clunky old 10-speed bike or a set of golf clubs for your dad's birthday, which you kind of forgot about until the last minute. Instead, the sale is full of unique pieces from the theatre's recent productions.

This is your chance to snag the kitchen table from "The Road to Mecca" you though was kitschy (pictured above) or that beachy wicker chair from "The Year of Magical Thinking."

Maybe stick with one or two accent pieces, though. No need to decorate your entire place in drama queen chic.

» Studio Theatre, 1501 14th St. NW; Sat., Aug 1, 10 p.m.-4 p.m., free; 202-332-3300. (Dupont Circle)
