GGX: Class Is In Session!

For 12 weeks, 6 Express readers are competing for $5,000 and a one-year membership to Gold’s Gym. Over the weeks, challengers will rack up points for losing unwanted weight and winning fitness challenges. The challenger with the most points at the end of 12 weeks wins.

KimRGB.jpgGold’s Gym Group Exercise (GGX) classes are playing a big role in new fitness routines for many of our challengers. We talked with Kim, Larry, and their Gold’s personal trainers about GGX classes and why they’re so effective.

Attack your Goal!
Kim and her personal trainer Tasha are working out at Gold’s Gym on Capitol Hill. Kim has been taking a number of GGX classes which include Body Combat, Zumba, and RPM. Tasha recommends GGX classes to help people achieve fitness goals because of the fun, motivating atmosphere. It’s working for Kim: she has lost 10 pounds and 19 inches.
Kim's Favorite GGX Class: Body Attack. ”It gives me the cardio I need, and the instructor gives us options for certain exercises, so someone who hasn’t worked out in a while can still keep up.„
Tasha's Favorite GGX Class: Body Jam. ”I’m a dancer so it doesn’t even feel like I’m working out while I burn calories.„

Larry is working out at the Midtown Gold’s Gym. His personal trainer, Chris, has been encouraging Larry to attend as many GGX classes as he can. She points out that GGX
classes provide an empathetic group of people to work out with, along with an instructor who will ensure you are using good form and proper technique to maximize your results. Larry has tried a number of classes, and he has lost more than 11 pounds.
Larry's Favorite GGX Class: Body Jam. ”It’s my favorite because of my dance background. The class covers hip-hop, jazz, classical, swing...it’s the best!„
Chris' Favorite GGX Class: RPM and Spin. ”The intensity of these classes and focus on obliterating calories keeps me motivated.„

Points are awarded weekly for weight loss and competitive challenges. In the event of no weight loss, or a less than 1% weight gain, contestants receive 0 points. Over 1% weight gain, contestants lose points proportional to their percentage of weight gain.
