GEORGETOWN
CONDO: Gateway Georgetown
2500 Q St. NW, #418

» $369,900: A stone's throw west of Dumbarton Bridge's buffalo sculptures, this 868-square-foot one bedroom condo is parked at the end of a long corridor in a 1942-built brick building. Parquet flooring injects a touch of Georgetown charm, though most of the thin carpet looks original to the building. The space is cheery and bright, in part due to natural light from the Rock Creek Park-facing windows, and partly from the current owner's bold paint choices. A large L-shaped living area could easily be split into separate spaces, and the bedroom fits a king-sized bed and generous nightstands. The bedroom closet is less generous. The cute-but-tiny kitchen is noticeably lacking updated amenities. Building perks include an exercise room and 24-hour front desk attendant. (Listed through TTR Sotheby's International Realty.)

ALEXANDRIA
CONDO: Carlyle Towers South
2151 Jamieson Ave., Alexandria, Va., #1111

» $384,500: Close to the King Street Metro and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, this 827-square-foot one-bedroom/1.5-bath condo is on the 11th of 21 floors in the 10-year-old Carlyle Towers South. A unique floorplan and unexpected quirks, such as a mirrored wall and marble foyer, radiate an elegant, if offbeat, personality. Interested in condo features you don't see everyday? Check out the enclosed brick balcony/all-seasons room, which offers extra space not included in the condo's square footage. Doors cordon off the corridor-style kitchen as well as the master bedroom suite "wing." Closets are spacious and numerous. From the kitchen, enjoy views of both the Masonic Temple and Metro train tracks. Building perks include an outdoor pool and rec deck (with shuffle board and putting green). (Listed through Coldwell Banker.)

  • No links to the listings? You mean we have to actually look this up ourselves? Man...

But doesn't Georgetown for the same price as Alexandria seem relatively obvious here? :)
