Arenas Becomes Seriously Boring

THERE'S NO JOY in Mudville these days.

Maybe it's the Redskins' losing to the lowly Lions, but Gilbert Arenas looked absolutely morose at the Wizards media day on Monday.

Speaking to Washington reporters for the first time since blasting his team for not saving him from himself when rebabbing from his knee injuries, Arenas was Agent Zero — as in no smiles.

Arenas the entertainer, as we knew him, is dead. Now he's Mr. Serious.

The blogging is gone, and so is the tweeting. There's no word on the halftime online gambling, but one would assume those days are over, too.

The mercurial star says he's just focused on playing 82 games, and everything else will take care of itself.

At the same time, Arenas noted that everyone has to be themselves. Perhaps he forgot to include an exception. It's the All-Star guard's personality to be goofy.

His body language suggests he's tired of being an NBA superstar.

Can Arenas maintain his boring personality all year? Only if the season is not going well.

The old Arenas will have to step up to the plate for Washington to succeed. One thinks this should happen as he remembers how fun it is to be Agent Zero on a winning team.
