Futurama: 'One Tree Hill' Season Seven Preview
"ONE TREE HILL" sure likes fast-forwarding in time: it's as if the show's writers are telling us that the destination matters more than the journey. Several seasons ago, the show jumped four years past the gang's high school graduation (a wise move, as college years rarely make for interesting television), and season seven (premiering Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. on The CW) skips ahead one year from where season six left off in May.
There are some new faces in Tree Hill this season, since series regulars Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) and Hilarie Burton (Peyton) aren't returning to the show. With that in mind, here's a summary of how we left things at the end of last year, and what to expect from the new season.
Where we left off last season:
Season six ended with very little drama — in fact, every plotline seemed to wrap up neatly, as if the producers didn't want to leave any loose ends to tie up in case prominent characters didn't return to the show. Lucas and Peyton had a baby girl, and Peyton's health problems seemed to be all resolved.
Nathan got called up to play in the NBA for the Charlotte Bobcats. Millicent decided to stay in Tree Hill with Mouth. Brooke reunited with Julian in Los Angeles, patched things up with her mother, and seemed poised for world domination with her clothing label.
With that much peace and harmony in Tree Hill, what could possibly be left for the future?
What to expect from this season:
It's now one year later, and there are some new faces in Tree Hill: Haley's big sister Quinn is in town for a visit (note: not the same big sister as Taylor, who slept with Nathan all those years ago), and Nathan's agent Clay (Robert Buckley, most recently from "Lipstick Jungle") is playing a rather large role in his life.
Brooke and Julian have been in a long-distance relationship for the past year while he's been off producing movies. Haley is recording an album and has taken over running Peyton's record label — although someone from the parent label is on her way to Tree Hill to shake things up. There seems to be a scandal brewing for one member of the gang. And, of course, Dan Scott is back — and healthy — and has re-invented himself into something that makes my skin crawl.
Oh, and Jerry Rice drops by — because apparently Tree Hill, North Carolina, is on every former NFL star's list of places to visit.
