The Art of Identity: DJ Spooky and 'Transformations'

THURSDAY: D.C.'s own DJ Spooky (a.k.a. Paul D. Miller, a.k.a. That Subliminal Kid, a.k.a. the European Graduate School's Professor of Trip-Hop) will speak at "Transformations: New Directions In Black Art," Maryland Institute College of Art's third conference on African American art in Baltimore.

Spooky and other prominent artists (including MacArthur Genius Grant Fellows Kara Walker, Aminah Robinson and Deborah Willis) will discuss the impact of ethnicity, nationalism, technology and community on the creative process.

The three-day event features lively moderated presentations, exhibitions, screenings, book signings and parties at MICA and Baltimore arts and cultural institutions.
