Pretty in Black: The Psychedelic Furs

The Psychedelic Furs by Getty ImagesTUESDAY While New Wave pioneers The Psychedelic Furs are now down to the Butler brothers, the essence of the band hasn't been lost. That's because, despite the dark-guitar melodies of John Ashton (who did join the Furs during their 2000 reunion but has since left), and the throb of Tim Butler's bass, the heart of the band is Richard Butler's ashtray-stained voice. More gothic than pop, more pop than punk, the Furs walk a gorgeous middle ground between rock and cabaret, experimental and mainstream, the past and the future.

Check out several recent Psychedelic Furs live videos (and one classic) after the jump.
