What Are We Doing Here?: 'Waiting for Godot'

Waiting for Godot
THIS WEEKEND: It is the year 2007 and the Classical Theatre of Harlem has plopped Samuel Beckett's legendary vagabonds in New Orleans' Ninth Ward.

The tale is the same one we all know: two guys are waiting under a tree for some guy named Godot, hoping to get some answers to all their questions. But to place this in New Orleans at a time of such devastation is perfectly fitting, a true story of waiting for faith to kick in.

This restaging of the classic has had families affected by Katrina driving nine hours to see the show. Luckily, Estragon (J. Kyle Manzay) and Vladimir (Wendell Pierce) are coming to us.

» Prince George Publick Playhouse, 5445 Landover Road, Cheverly; Fri., Oct. 30 through Sun., Nov. 1, $10 with student ID, $20; 301-277-1710.
