Gifts From the Globe: 'Blue Like Me'

ONGOING: The influences are strong in Siona Benjamin's colorful paintings in "Blue Like Me" — Indian miniatures, Sephardic icons and American boldness.

Benjamin is originally from the Bene Israel Jewish community in Bombay, India, and uses her work to express her feelings about growing up amid Muslims and Hindus, relocating to the United States and developing an identity in an increasingly small world.

Washington D.C. Jewish Community Center, Ann Bronfman Gallery, 1529 16th St. NW; through Jan. 29; 202-518-9400. (Dupont Circle)
