Best Bakery: Cakelove

IT ALL STARTED when Warren Brown left a career in law to open his first bakery in 2002. While the local chain is renowned for its cupcakes, it serves up whole cakes, eclairs, brownies, cookies, scones, bedrolls and even chocolate-covered strawberries. "The people know what's up!" Brown says. "We work hard to make excellent cupcakes, and it seems the customers have listened." Elastic waistbands are recommended while visiting.
By the Numbers: Cakelove used 56,000 pounds of butter to make its treats last year.
