Best Theatre: Kennedy Center

IT'S TOUGH TO COMPETE with the Kennedy Center. A Washington institution, the performing arts complex has such an avalanche of programs that anyone, on any budget, can find something to love. The only problem is to decide whether you want to attend the free banjo concert or the modernist musical or the long-running "Shear Madness." Like every theater, the Kennedy Center has a cat and a ghost — in this case, they're one and the same. Mosby the Cat haunts the Terrace Theater, according to vice president of theatre programming Max Woodward.
Not To Miss: Woodward is excited for the trio of Terrence McNally plays that the Kennedy Center is producing next spring. If you can't wait that long, try the Pulitzer Prize-winning family drama "August: Osage County," which starts later this month.
