Aught Stuff: Favorite TV Memories

WOW, LOOK AT THE TIME! Everyone is compiling lists of the best TV of the decade. I do not want to repeat what others say. So, here is a random rundown of favorite TV memories that probably no one else will put on their Best of the Decade list.

» Best TV show I never watched but know I would have loved if I did: "The Wire."

» Best TV mother: Jessica Walters as Lucille Bluth in "Arrested Development," who once told one of her four offspring, "You're my third least-favorite child."

» Best sitcom no one watched: "Andy Richter Controls the Universe," with Andy, above, as an aspiring auteur slaving over technical matters, reimagining his life in his writer's brain and wooing women with observations like, "Ants are fascinating — sometimes."

» Best performance by a damaged lion figurine: Talking damaged lion figurine in the awesomely weird "Wonderfalls."

» Best vampire: "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" acidic Spike, even though he started out in the '90s.

» Best performance by a black actor impersonating a Jew: J.B. Smoove as Leon on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," explaining how he was adopted by some "lovely Jewish people and had a bar mitzvah every 13 years" to recharge.
