Gospel Gospel: 'Black Nativity'

THIS WEEKEND: You've probably seen the story of the Nativity a gazillion times — at a friend's church in childhood, at your cousin's Catholic school, or even acted out by some very intoxicated hipsters during an art fair in Baltimore — but you've never seen it done quite like this. "Black Nativity" melds the Christmas story with Langston Hughes' poetry and a whole lot of music.
» H Street Playhouse, 1365 H St. NE; through Jan. 3, $15-$20; 202-399-7993.
