A Serious Talk: 'Distant Relatives'

NOTE: This event is sold out. But, National Geographic tells us, "folks can watch a live stream online at natgeomusic.net or check out the afterparty at Zanzibar."

SATURDAY: National Geographic Live ushers out its fall season with an exciting event. The discussion "Distant Relatives" brings together hip-hop star Nas, reggae star and scion Damian Marley, and such rap and reggae pioneers as KRS-One, King Jammy and Kool Herc to talk about the connections between the genres. MTV's VJ Sway moderates this talk, which is part of a Distant Relatives musical collaboration between Marley and Nas. Listen to them this year; look for an album, a documentary and performances in 2010.

» National Geographic, 16th and M streets NW, Sat., Dec. 12, 7 p.m., $25; 202-857-7700. (McPherson Square)
