Indies & Arties: Creatures, Dudes, Robo-Vampires

SAY 'AWWWW'
It's the holiday season and time once again for threats: You'd better watch out; he sees you when you're sleeping; and our favorite — you will have your heart warmed by a movie featuring fuzzy little creatures. Or else. AFI Silver aids in this endeavor by screening "Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas" — Jim Henson's animated version of the beloved book — as part of its holiday movie slate.
» AFI Silver, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring, "Holiday Cinema" through Dec. 24; "Emmet Otter," Thu. Dec. 17, Sat. Dec. 19, & Sun. Dec. 20, $5 for children under 12; 301-495-6700; Afi.com/silver. (Silver Spring)

HERE COMES ZOMBIE CLAUS
Sleighbells, elves, eggnog, ninjas, zombie-robot vampires ... it's the most bloodiest time of the year. Join the Washington Psychotronic Film Society for its weekly dose of obscure movie madness on Tuesday for Joe Livingstone's "Robo Vampire." This baffling 1988 crime-cop-robot-horror mess is as entertaining as it is pointless. Bring your lowest standards.
» Warehouse Theater, 1021 7th St. NW; Tue., Dec. 22, 8 p.m., $2 donation suggested; Wpfs.org. (Mt. Vernon Square/Gallery Place-Chinatown)
