THIRD TIME, NO CHARM
Uma Thurman has called off her engagement to multimillionaire Arpad Busson, Usmagazine.com reported. The pair were betrothed this past June; the ring had an eight-carat diamond surrounded by 20 smaller stones. "She will probably give it back," a source told People. com. "She wants to return everything that’s his." Despite reports that Busson is "beside himself," they "remain friends," the source said. Thurman was previously married to Ethan Hawke and Gary Oldman.

'WE HAVE YOU AT YOUR WORST ANGLE. PAY UP'
Two people in Michigan have been charged with threatening to sell photos of John Stamos unless he paid them $680,000. Allison Coss and Scott Sippola were arrested last week on an extortion charge at an airport near Marquette. An undercover FBI agent had arranged to meet them there. A Stamos spokesman said Tuesday the photos simply are of the actor posing with fans.

BRYANT GUMBEL WAS TREATED FOR LUNG CANCER
Bryant Gumbel shocked a television audience with the news that he's recovering from lung cancer surgery and treatment. The former "Today" show anchor, 61, said a malignant tumor and part of his lung were removed two months ago. He revealed his condition to Kelly Ripa while subbing for Regis Philbin on Tuesday's edition of "Live With Regis and Kelly."

WOODS' MOTHER-IN-LAW RUSHED TO HOSPITAL
Emergency crews were summoned to Tiger Woods' Orlando-area mansion on Tuesday, this time because his mother-in-law was having stomach pains. Barbro Holmberg was taken to the hospital by ambulance after someone called 911 at about 2:35 a.m., a hospital spokesman said. She was released about 11 hours later and returned to Woods' home.
