This DVD's Won The Swing Vote: 'Dance Off the Pounds'

'Dance Off the Pounds'CELEBRITIES KEPT YAPPING about how "Dancing With The Stars" got them in the best shape of their lives, so the show decided to capitalize on that by bringing out workout DVDs. Unfortunately, none of them have been all that well-received — until "Dance Off the Pounds" (Lionsgate) debuted.

Pros from the program — Kym Johnson, Lacey Schwimmer and Dmitry Chaplin (Mya's partner!) — each teach a style (swing, quickstep and jive) in about 15 minutes. There's no warm-up; you just start moving. And there isn't a lot of breaking down steps; you just try to follow along (sometimes without much help from the camera angles). Luckily, it's repetitive enough that even uncoordinated audiences should be able to pick up most of the choreography by the time they take it from the top the final time. And if they don't, as long as they keep moving and think about the instructors' cues to tighten their abs and raise on their toes to work their calves, they'll manage to do something. Even if it isn't quite the quick step.
