CAUSES
ILLNESS KILLED MURPHY
Brittany Murphy died from pneumonia, but iron-deficiency anemia and multiple prescription drugs also played a role, Los Angeles
coroner's officials said. The death was ruled accidental. Details about the drugs Murphy had in her system will be released in several weeks when a complete report is done. Murphy died Dec. 20 at age 32 after collapsing at her Hollywood Hills home.

Former teen idol Leif Garrett has been released from jail on a charge he carried heroin into a Los Angeles subway station. A sheriff's spokesman says Garrett denied having drugs at first, then acknowledged that he had black tar heroin in his shoe. Garrett was arrested in 2006 at another Los Angeles subway stop for having heroin.

HEIRESS DIED FROM DIABETES COMPLICATIONS
Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson died of diabetic ketoacidosis, a complication of type 1 diabetes, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office announced. The full autopsy report will be released within the next two weeks. Johnson, 30, was found dead Jan. 4 at her Los Angeles home. She was engaged to Tila Tequila.

Wayne Newton owes a Michigan airport more than $60,000 after abandoning his plane more than three years ago. Oakland County International Airport President Joe Borgesen says the plane was flown into the airport to have interior work done. He said Newton initially paid storage fees but then stopped.
