THE FINE PEOPLE at CEIVA Logic — "the inventor of the digital photo frame," their press release says — had a great idea for a viral Christmas video: allow people to upload a photo of themselves sitting on Santa's lap.

Genius! Almost.

They tucked this bit of niftyness inside a mind-numbing video featuring Santa and his lovable, irrepressibly chatty elf, Ollie, extolling the virtues of — you guessed it — a digital photo frame. Product placement is good. Awkward cross chatter, not so much.

Also, Ollie appears to be unable to CONTROL THE VOLUME OF HIS VOICE. His exuberance is still rattling my eardrums.

Here's how it works: Santa and Ollie blabber and blabber and blabber for seemingly interminable minutes, talking about how wonderful family is. Including Ollie's cousin Louie, who's due to be a dad soon. Fascinating.

Then, finally, they ask you to upload a picture as they check out a periodical. With just a smidge too much interest.
