  • Where is Barack Hussein Obama as a choice? Isn't he everyone's American Idol? Well, at least eveyone, but me, GOParent, and a few select others perhaps.

  • This year's American Idol should be the same as every year... the soldier, teacher, police officer, fireman, etc. The people that make this country function and keep it safe should be idolized, not the people that entertain us (tv, movie, sports, etc).

  • This is such an important decision I need to make, one cannot rush into such a decision….I’ll need some time to think it over.

  • Neither, American Idol is a joke, none of these people have any true talent. I don't watch that show anymore.

  • I'd never buy Adam's albums, and I'd probably change stations when he comes on, but he's the most original.

  • None of the above. I reject all forms of idolatry.

  • Adam probably will win, but I think Kris is much more mainstream and current and will probably sell more records. Go Kris!

That makes sense to me, you don't watch the show but somehow you know that neither has talent. Very impressive. I, on the other hand, watch and think that both contestants (as well as many previous ones) have a lot of talent.

  • Didn't we already vote on this in November? That old guy had absolutely no stage presence; how he made it to the final two is a complete mystery to me.

  • Did the Express already hire their summer intern to ask questions that only a dweeb could provide a real answer? Hey Express - the only reason I view (and at times participate) in this poll is it is a good pulse of of the DC commuters. If many commuters work in the public sector, how about questions that impact them? It doesn't have to be political, but I would recommend relevance.

  • What about that fugly chick that's all over YouTube? Can we vote for her?

  • "Diogenes rejects "all forms of idolatry" except Obama." - I love it, but really this goes for half of the Republicrat party. (The left-statists known as Democrats.)

And further, in a time where people are obviously ignorant and blind to the fact that our entire system of fractional reserve banking has just failed (it's not "fixed" yet-lol) and the economy is likely going into a serious depression, you would think that news organizations could come up with more relevant topics.

Express, some of your readers would rather not go back to sleep, keep the sheeple articles and poll questions off the community interaction page.

Journalists are supposed to be some of the most informed of us, but more often than not they seem to just rehash and reinforce the same incorrect fallacies, political correctness, and statist assumptions that the rest of us have. I expect more from the news, but usually it's a let down.

  • Is that show still on? Its worse than our elections--it seemingly never ends and we always get disappointed in the final choice.

  • @ Durr

I believe you're confusing American Idol with C-SPAN.

    By Diogenes , Posted May 19, 2009 11:26 AM
  • Kris should win. Adam is a wannabe glam rocker, not a singer. Kris is a true musician, Adam is a performer. Depends on what you want in your American Idol. Although I think Kris would be the wiser choice, as he is radio friendly and will sell records whether he wins or not. Adam - ?

  • GW,
You are likely correct about the Depression and it was BOTH Parties that got us into this mess (BOTH houses of Congress as well as BOTH Clinton AND Bush). We are likely headed for a LONG Recession (Depression) followed by a period of hyperinflation due to the recent events starting with the bank bailouts and the car bailouts and the insurance bailouts (who is next?) and leading up to the porkulus who the CBO said will likely bring us to a lost decade similar to Japan due to the lower GDP in part caused by the porkulus bill. Did I mention that we are still at 8.9% unemployment? What has the “stimulus” bill done but give us more debt with NO results? Our $1.8 TRLLION debt so far this year alone does not help with the inflation since I seriously doubt that China will buy it all up so we will just end up printing more money and causing 10+% interest rates within the next few years. Hold on. It is going to be a bumpy ride.

  • China's not going to bail us out anymore. Historically they've had the bailout for the Federal Government but that's coming to an end. Our financial system has melted down. Most don't realize the magnitude of what has happened yet. It is massive, but it will take time to be fully realized. Our problems are greater than that prior to the great depression, and it's not over.

The only thing propping us up now is so many peoples' imaginations, picturing the US economy as an unstoppable "fundamentally healthy" force that can never come to an end. Once they start talking about the dollars "reserve currency status" in the news, watch out. Obama's "New Deal" policies are just the nails in the coffin that Bush and many presidents before him created. The first New Deal prolonged the depression and a second one will only produce "more of the same".

Soon the bill (Ron Paul created) to audit the Federal Reserve will expose the theft of wealth from the poor and middle class and the destruction of the dollar since it's creation (96% of it's value). And if the truth continues to be exposed (rather than ignored and belittled by the media) the greatest scam in the history of mankind will come to a screeching halt. It won't be pretty when it happens, but maybe we'll have a sane market economy and banking system once again.

  • GW,
I fully agree that this spending under both parties, but drastic spending lately to no benefit, will destroy our lives as we know it and if Obama gets his way with the "Cap and Trade" then energy prices will sky-rocket and will be felt most by the poor and middle class. He is already putting huge emission and mpg standards on vehicles (I am for this, but at what cost?) which will just make their prices unaffordable for lower class people. The free market should dictate this, not the government. We have been slowly headed down this road towards the cliff for a while, to use Obama's picture, and have just pushed the accelerator and have locked the wheel in position with little chance to steer away from the cliff. Brace yourself as we all head for the cliff like the lemmings that most of us are.
